Long serving hill walker and newbie climber.

Peak District is my local playground but Lake District is my Mecca!

Just a quick question...Profile pic less than 12k ??? How the blazes do I resize an image to that size?

Cheers all

Graeme

Welcome Graymee.

you will need to reduce it in photo software and also reduce it to get in your gallery unless you copy the link into the link emblem above, dont know if there is free software though , you can also copy the BB link from flickr into your post .

Hi Graymee,

Welcome to OM

For the profile pic and indeed other pix you might like to put up, try pixresizer - easily found with google.

If you have a wide view and you cant get it into one photo, you take two photos side by side and photo stitching software joins them into one wider photo, you see it on some wide postcards and in flickr at times , I have a few views but no software , I often take 2 or 3 photos side by side when on top of a hill just in case I get software .

Thanks for that guys...I've resized an image down to 12k and even smaller but still won't upload..."change your face" box just closes after I have chosen file and hit upload. Nothing changes despite waiting for a while and hitting the "update" button...

Confused, never had a problem uploading a prof pic before now!

It takes a while - day at least, for it to be checked and approved.

How often do you go into the Peak District?

I live North of Buxton, so am often in the Peak.

Wow!sorry Jim, completely missed your post and I've been out of touch for a while...

As often as I can is the simple answer but that is never enough

I tend to do longer and more heavy stuff with a mate but he is difficult to pin down these days. I do get out with another group now then but they are not really as dedicated to the cause...if you get my drift!

Cheers
Graeme

It took several days for my photo (once I'd finally managed to shrink it down to less than 12K) to magically appear.

The way I did it wasn't exactly by the book, but it worked. I emailed it to myself, several times. It allowed me to select the size so each time I picked the smallest. I then had to open it and go through the process 2-3 times. Bit of an effort, but I got there eventually.

Ohhhh, dumbo or what, there's a pic there now...........maybe someone else can benefit from my wisdom!!!!
