Does anyone have any experience of using any of the women specific gear websites? Although some womens gear fits me fine, sometimes it comes up a bit short and I wondered if anyone had experience of service and returns etc?

I've bought from Gear for Girls in the past, and never had any problems with returning items to them.

I'm not certain, but I thought the Distance Selling Regulations covered this issue; whilst you can check sizes as much as you can, this won't guarantee that the item will fit, so there's always an uncertainty, and this is one of the issues that I thought the DSR was meant to address.

I'm happy to be put right by someone with a better understanding of the DSR.

Roos and I have never had any issues with Rohan's postal service, including a few "looked better on the website than on me" returns.  They're not "women specific" but they do have an extensive women's specific line.

halfamary, not sure if you're after.......

1. Recommendations for women specific online shops?

2. Brands whose women's sizing suits someone of your shape?

Or both maybe?

1. I've also been happy with Gear for Girls.  There's not many others that I know of - Sheactive and Be Outdoors come to mind but can' remember buying from either.

2. Might help to give a bit more detail if you want suggestions from others on specific sizing issues.  The topic of long leg lengths has come up before if you want to give the 'search facility' a try.

Are you finding things are too short in leg?, torso?, arm?

Otherwise it's down to trial and error and keeping a mental note of what brands fit best. My particular problem is finding trousers that don't have fancy finishes on the bottom which make turning up tricky.  Most are too long for me in my size and few have simple hems.

If you're ever in the Lakes, Ambleside is great for 'trying on', there's a lot of variety in a small area.

I've used both Gear for Girls and Be Outdoors and been really happy with both.  Returning stuff was no problem with either and have used them again.  be Outdoors particulalry has a good range of Rab clothing which seems to fit me well, but as MoS says, its probably down to finding a brands fir that your confident with to fit your specific shape.

Thanks for the replies. It was more a case of having had good service and experience with returns. Just because its covered by DSR doesnt always work in practice for a good experience when you try to get a refund. I'm on the tall side so things tend to come up short in the arms and trousers are a nightmnare! Be Outdoors look to have a really nice range at good prices but I've never tried some of the brands so dont know how the fit will be and wanted to know if anyone could recommend based on their experience.

I'll give them a try and let you know!
