Hi All

Anyone got any views or experiences in the maximum age or weight of a child to use a Macpac Possum for example ? I've seen one very locally on ebay for collection. My daughter is 20 months old and she is over average size at two stone. Just wondering how much use would get before she is too big for it.

Hello, I have a deuter kid comfort III I think it's load is 23k, most other carriers are around 18k. My carrier has been with me for all three of my kids and I think they are fantastic kit. I am taking my 7 year old daughter out without the carrier nowadays, but I would consider taking it for her if I thought a walk might be too much for her. Dont forget to put the weight on your hips not your shoulders,it makes such a difference.

Thanks. I Just found the product support on the Macpac website. It say the maximum intended weight is 20kg so I make that just over 3 stone

Hips mate hips put the carrier on, tighten it all up, then try and lift it all up so the hip belt is actually higher than your hips and tighten it as much as is comfortable then loosen the shoulders and let it drop, then adjust the shoulder straps. The shoulder straps are only there to hold the carrier in place and you should be able to move them around or even have a gap at the top. By taking the weight on your hips it's your legs that take the strain, and they get strong quite quickly, learning to drag 25kg on your collar bones is not as easy or as pleasant.

Good look btw !

Thanks for that Simo.

Looks like your littles ones enjoy the outdoors as much as you. I hope I can pick one up soon. Plenty on Ebay. Seems like a lot of people buy them and never use them..Yes thanks about the advice I guess its the same principle as wearing a heavy backpacking rucksack transfering as much as possible onto the hips. cheers

Indeed. Unless you are desperate, play the game on ebay, in addition to my deuter I picked up a vaude carrier in mint condition for £17. My missus never bothered with it and a mate of mine has been 'borrowing' it for the last few years.
