I think that everyone here explained just how hard that would be.

It's sad news to hear of someone dying doing something that they'd been so keen to do. It just goes to show that even with training, it's nearly impossible to live off the land in a place like Scotland.

Wasn't that some American bloke planning to live out a Hemingwayesque fantasy in Scotland?  He clearly knew nothing about Scotland and, as I recall, we pointed out that much of what he intended to do was illegal and that the whole venture was impractical.

Very sad about this guy found dead but it does show how easy it is to underestimate conditions and overestimate your ability to deal with them.  Lighting a few twig fires in a lowland forest in the Summer on a bushcraft course is nothing like trying to "live off the land" in the Winter.
