Is ordering from America to reduce the cost difference a bad idea? Including import fees and taxes the neutrino works out 20 odd pounds dearer. Never done that before...
I am 6ft2 - 90 kg so am also considering whether the pipedream might be a little narrow/short?
I do like Alpkit and there stuff though!
Hmmmm. Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated!
Ah, now 6ft2 is going to affect things. You're a little too tall for a 'normal' length bag like the pipedream (210cm). Probably non awful consequences but not ideal. Meanwhile several people do do longer bags but they'll be a bit long.
Meanwhile RAB are doing something odd length wise - if you look at their pdf here you can see that while they're only doing one length, its also longer than usual. 220cm and up to 6ft 2.5inches internal length. So.....
If it wasn't for this I wouldn't be at all sure, as the pipedreams do review well etc. Also sundry things from PHD/WM/ME etc. But a length match that good seems compelling on paper.
They're quite widely available so worth seeing if you can arrange to lie in one mind. Alpine 400 maybe worth a thought too.
I have a SkyeHigh and being 6ft5' I have a long and it is perfect for me. One of the reasons I went with the Alpkit bag was that it was hard to find a down bag that didnt cost £250 that actually fit me! If you usually struggle with sizes, get the Alpkit long version of the pipedream.
Well indeed its a shame they don't do a long version. I guess that would have swayed it. I might get cold feet!!! Can't be having that...
The pipedream is available for pre-order (to be delivered mid-feb) so thats was my thinking. Perhaps based on width/length i will rule it out.
I looked at the skyehighs too but really wanted something as light and compact as possible, its just about compromise i guess. I haven't ruled it though...
Thanks for the RAB info - interesting - i think that puts it top of the list. Perhaps it was meant to be?!
I'll do a bit more research into the other possibilities mentioned.
