You're not supposed to wear any kind of compression underwear overnight. It restricts circulation when it's needed most. This is what I was told by a specialist retailer who supply kit to Iron Man competitiors.

My own exeperience of Accapi underwear is that when I've had strained thigh muscles after too much hill work, wearing the 3/4 length longjohns restored, largely pain free, mobility during the day and sped up recovery by at least a day. It's not a miracle but it does help. I'd cautiously recommend them :-)

The bit I like best about this is that the sub-heading on the article stresses that wearing the stuff improves your mental performance.

I'd definitely buy a pair of trousers that made me cleverer.

I think that may go some way to explaining why men lose all their intelligence when they take their trousers off?

Incidentally 'reflecting FAR infrared' is basically the way that all clothing does to some degree. I know Schoeller was involved in military clothing coatings that increase infrared reflection but this is due to the need to make the electromagnetic reflected spectrum closer to that of plants and leaves which have strong NIR reflection characteristics known as red-edge.

John (wearing his trousers)

I once wore a support bandage on a tweaked knee overnight.  I woke up with a rather fatter lower leg than usual...  Fortunately, it subsided fairly quickly once I took it off an moved about a bit.  It was tight enough to impede return circulation in my leg.

I'm sure they'd look very smart, too...

I'll get my trousers...

Jon, Schoeller are also launching Ecorepel - a better DWR; will report back from ISPO if it is as good as the press release makes out...

Ha! Trousers that merely keep you dry are of no interest to the keen hillwalker these days.

Sad, but true.

It's the inevitable price of progress.

It's also just occurred to me that if you bought yourself a hat made out of Energear, you'd need to get it a couple of sizes bigger than your normal hats, as the close proximity of the material to your brain would make you more intelligent really really quickly, with a resultant dramatic increase in brain, and therefore heid, size.

I hope Schoeller have thought all this through properly.
