Shudder .....
"An inspirational leader with a commercial mindset",
"significant experience in the pub industry",
"identify and explore new opportunities to maximise the appeal",
"making sure that we’re hitting our ambitious financial targets",
"Creative in your thinking and not afraid to roll your sleeves up",
"explore exciting new ways to bring this place to life",
"focusing on increasing revenue and controlling costs",
"manage and lead your team to deliver an unforgettable National Trust experience"

And for doing ALL that what sorts of employee benefits did the National Trust feel they would need to put on there website to entice a suitable candidate to apply???

"free admission to all our incredible places" Saving you an equally incredible £37.88 a year!!
but thats not all....
"a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants"

Mega ROFLMAO

Seriously, I guess the NT are cashing in on the large numbers of people desperate to work in the outdoors. £12/hr isn't great especially as there no (mention) pension also the free rent sounds good until you leave and find yourself homeless.

£23.500 a year, rent free, nice location.

They'll have plenty of applicants.

In the late 70s you could work at the Wasdale Head Inn (rent free, nice location), for a mere £1,500 a year, simply by working 60 hours a week!

Off thread.
Wasdale is without mains electricity at the moment. They have mighty big generator -since Christmas I believe. The mains cable goes under the lake and is 'bust'. The electricity company are scratching their heads and getting splinters in their fingers. The folks of Wasdale head are kind of fed up!!

It used to be like that all the time, despite being on the doorstep of a massive nuclear power station. There was no way that the National Park Authority and National Trust would allow an overhead power line, so in the end the line had to be sunk in the lake and buried underground. It was all up and running when I worked there, but there were lots of power cuts and it always took time to fix because no-one could ever see which bit needed attention.
