Trolls in scotland are a severe and increasig problem. They're contained by high voltage wires on pylons. They are discombobulated by the noise windmills make.
The current fit of covering the hills with windmills is to contain the trolls.

I'm  more scared of scottish midges than anything else we have in the UK. I reckon enough of them without repellant, head net and clothing covering legs and arms up and I'd be bled to death by the blighters!!!!

I guess with regards to stings there's probably some tablets that can be taken? But I guess it'd be wise to bring some sort of pain killer if you do get sick some how?
I never knew we had wild boars here! How do you go about making anti venom just incase you do get bitten by a snake or skopian? Etc?
Crap I got a tonne of questions thats gone beyond just what food, and how not to become food lol!
Ok so uk is generally as safe as it gets for being in the wild, rest of Europe perhaps not so?
In the event of needing to hunt I would assume / imagine that being nearer to a water source like a river or lake would increase my chances of finding something safe to eat? And where there's the likes of bears or other larger then me sorts around I'm also likely to become food?

Stake a goat to the ground - or get a special falling over one - to distract any attacking beast.

Guinness is very good anti-venom. Worked a treat with the ex.

Bluewater makes for excellent hunting grounds.

Ifall else fails eat the goat (is that still classifiedas a misdemeanour)

Just make sure it's not the tree-climbing kind or it'll shimmy up a tree and leave you to be eaten by the predator.

Caveat emptor, kate. You should check with the supplier if it's been stored correctly. Goats can get a bit cranky if stored upside down or in the damp.

I fear we could have the same prob in Wales! The windmills don't work on the trolls down here. Trolls not a prob for wildcampers hereabouts as long as you offer them a cup of tea. Had some good conversations with trolls, of a night.
Ticks are nasty - cover up! And check yourself! Scottish midges are definitely worse than trolls! I'm looking to get full body armour for my next trip.
There are boar down here in the Forest of Dene. It's glorious to see them and, so far, they're not too scared of humans. Respect is your best guide, don't do anything you wouldn't like done to you and that includes prying and blundering into their places. Don't go trying to get close to the "dear little stags" either, especially when they're rutting. Learn how wildlife photographers work and do the same.

A recent(ish) local death after an animal attack was someone who was bitten by a rabid bat. Perhaps the original poster should consider a tinfoil hat?

watch the norwegian documentary film "troll hunter". it's a shame they couldn't get david attenborough to do the narrative. all is explained; especially about wild foods.

Parky, agree about the christian ... I'm not so perhaps that's why I'm ok . Dad used to take me out on the moor, when I was a wee sprog, just to meet them ... that was Exmoor but the Silurian Trolls seem to appreciate a slice of toast and a drop of cider too, like wassailing .Perhaps I should watch Trollhunter ...

the finnish documentary called "rare exports" would compliment the viewing of "troll hunter" to gain a more rounded appreciation of what is on offer in the great outdoors.
