im in the south east of the uk, and on occasions i've seen placed that have huge ranges of tents on show outside, but i've never had a chance to stop by to see where these places are. just wondering if anyone knows where i could go to, as i want to check out some bivi's to solo/2 man tents

I don't know about bivi's, but a lot of Vango and Gelert tents can be seen at Go Outdoor shops.

April 27-29 the Backpackers club Agm is on at Ashford on the Water in the Peak District.Good place to go if you want to see lightweight tents erected and lightweight gear

Saw that Oxford Go Outdoors had a largish permanent tent display BUT they tended to be the cheap and cheerful types along with the huge heavy family tents. I guess that putting any sort of decent tents i.e. Quasars, Hillyberg etc would be rather expensive in terms of the tent and replacement every few days after they got nicked in the night!

I'm not... I'm saying that if you have need for a mountain tent for a trip to the Greater Ranges then wandering around a display full of 20kg+ family tents or festival type tents isn't going to be conducive to your tent search
