I went for a wander towards the glen at the base of Glas Mheall Liath and Glas Mheall Mor, I followed the path that goes through the Rhododendrons ( although I followed the burn at the start and missed them ).
Although the path ends up in the glen and is well used ( frozen footprints left a few days ago , is the path just access to the glen or does it go further ( there was a covering of snow on the ground and I lost it ) ?
There was what could have been a path ( hard to tell as there was some snow ) at the far end of the glen ( will need to get some micro spikes of similar ) that may have been going up above, but not sure, the path was well worn in bits so well used. There was quiet a bit of frozen water lying around and the ground was frozen so didnt fancy going up a grassy slope .
re photos, I should have taken more but wasnt intending to do it as a walk, I've started a "Part Walk" collection in flickr for bits that aren't proper walks .
That little goat was just following mum and hardly looked at me although I was only a few feet away from it and outdside my car.
AR I've always descended that route and through the rhododendrons onto the main road. The route round the bog and plants is a bit more obvious on the descent route I think.
There is a steep scree path leaving the ridge near the col between the Munro Top, Glas Mheall Mor and the Munro, Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill but it will not be obvious in winter conditions.
I have also come off Glas Mheall Mor but cannot recall if there was a walker's path or not but as it is a popular hill I would expect to find one.
Thanks Lindsay the first time I came down from Toll an Lochan I followed the burn down to the the road and got lost on the rhodies and at that time it was very soft in the middle in parts, I thought there may be the line of a path at the end of the glen
But you cant really see it for the snow ( as you say ).
I did find a path on flickr with the view overlooking the Dundonnell House area but am not sure where it was, i will have to go for a wander on a good day to see what I can find, i know there is a path that goes from the climbing hut across from the farm at Dundonnell but havent followed it.
I was told there is a path going down from the top somewhere and thought I may find something if I wandered around, I'll see what the better weather brings .
