Hi everyone Im Craig, signed up on here yesterday looking for some info on Snowdon conditions which was great (thanks Tim). I like the look of the forum so figured it was only polite to introduce myself Im from Dorset. Want to get out to do more walking/scrambling etc.. nearest mountains to me is Snowdonia which I last went to in November. Its a 5/6 hour drive so a bit of a trek for me, and don't know many people into going to the mountains Hoping to steal some of your knowledge

 Hi Craig, welcome to OM.
I'd previously read your contributions to the 'Snowdonia this week?' thread. I'm in Wiltshire, so not quite as far away from the hills as yourself, but could be on route from Bournemouth if you want company and help with the petrol costs.

Hello. Just moved from Dawwsett into Wilts and at least I can get to the M4 more easily now. I head over to the 'Brecons' myself where MK, Dorset's dutiful daughter, has gone native.

I have to admit I have never been to the Brecons before. Maybe I will have to go over there
|
 |
Dont let Katie hear you call them that

Oi, you lot, behave yourselves! kreig, welcome to a fellow Durotrigan, though GB is right that I've 'gone native' after living in Wales for nigh on 20 years. I did a fair amount of walking on Dartmoor when I was growing up in Dorchester, but the guys are right that the Brecon Beacons (ahem) aren't that far away and offer some decent walking, though not the cragginess of Snowdonia. Keep a look out in the Meets and Partners section for weekend meet-ups in various places including Snowdonia. And, kreig, welcome to the Forum. Whereabouts in Dorset are you?

Hi Kreig That depends on your definition. I am sure that some here will argue (in fact I bet they will ) I think a mountain is over 984ft (300m). So Dartmoor is closer - but I do know what you mean. Welcome anyway, if you want to go on meets then you can probably share a lift some of the way.
