I have a whisperlite and whilst no complaints about it but I wish I had something that could use gas as well. It's a bit brutal but a reliable workhorse and lights easy. The new model addresses that problem, ah well. Never saw a Primus Omnifuel working before I got it, so stuck with what I knew.
I have had a whisperlite for years and can't fault it ,I'm looking for something that does it all.I don't find liquid fuel is the best for me when not at altitude or in high temperatures, gas is easier in these areas.
What is your specific job for it? Multifuels have their place, but where they stand out above other stoves is expedition use where fuel re-supply is something of an unknown. if you're backpacking along the Pennine Way you'd quite possibly be better off with a simpler gas stove: lighter, more control, cheaper. No, it won't burn petrol, but if you have a gas supply why would you want it to?
I have the older Primus Multifuel (before the tweak to get it to burn diesel) and aside from sounding something like Concorde taking off it's a good stove. But I don't use it very often because our gas options are better most of the time. It does burn gas, but not as well as a dedicated gas stove (because the burner head is much less ptimised for gas than a dedicated gas burner).
If you do want an expedition stove for where fuel resullpy is an unknown (or you know it'll be deisel/petrol/paraffin) then ignore the above, but for most UK use you can spend a lot less and carry less too and not be worse off when it comes to tea time.
