I did wonder that actually Parky, but I suppose the main thrust of my observation was that I have even seen a so called "expert" getting caught out by not wearing gloves whilst using SRT equipment.

Sorry to bring this one up again but I am still laughing my head off after tonight's TV disaster.

No, not AT rushing about all over the place and for some unfathomable reason ranting on about Roman Roads and the Black Death on a Natural History show, but the North West's Regional Presenter whose sole purpose in life appears to be to make Paul Whitehouse's woolly-hatted character from the Fast Show seem erudite and witty.

On a beach:

<female presenter> "Look, we're leaving footprints!"

<Paul Whitehouse's Challenged Brother> "yeah, it's great!"

In ancient woodland:

<PWCB> "It looks really old"

And my favourite - the mime -on a Lakeland moor on a very cloudy day - "what fantastic views!" <raises hand to shade eyes from non-existent sun whilst rotating head to take in the scene>

After watching a superb "Natural World" last week on the Norfolk Broads, it was fascinating to compare it with this dross.

Titty should, without any doubt, be banished to daytime TV (preferably in Finland), and the Beeb should have the guts to push its genuinely fine Natural History strands to the fore in primetime. Sorry, but this programme is crap, and I regret my earlier comment that it is better than celebreality gameshows. It isn't.

I was very pleased to see that a Mr Dave Shakespeare has written in to tgo (January edition) to take issue with some of the uncomplimentary comments about Mr Titty published in tgo last month (reproduced from this thread).

Still basking in the warm glow of being described as an "elitist nit-picking Munro bagger", I was even more delighted to see that Mr Shakespeare has faithfully reproduced my rather naughty deliberate mis-spelling of Mr Titchmarsh's surname (which in turn I had taken from Cameron McNeish's comment in the early stages of the Palin thread).
