So - Cameron wants controversial, does he?

Ronald Turnbull's article on Gable was exemplary save for one point, which I
shall come to later. I've been up and down by all the routes he covered, save
for the Climbers' Traverse and White Napes. My regular now is from Brackenclose to Beck Head and return via Sty Head and the valley floor route on Remembrance Sunday

He certainly got it right that some fells have it and others just don't quite match up to the very best. And it is at that point that I take issue with Ronald: fancy choosing Meg Ryan over Jenny Agutter, our own perfect English
Rose. It's an absolute disgrace!

Can anyone guess the Trail secret on GAble that they are promoting for the next issue?

I saw Meg Ryan on a chat show a year or two back. Either she'd just returned from a combat zone and was experiencing "adjustment difficulties" or she doesn't have a brain of her own!

Re secret: I have no idea - give us a clue? ;-)

Ummm judging by other Trial "REVEALED"-type articles, the big secret is that it's in the Lake District.

If they're really on form, they may "reveal" that you don't need to touch the summit to find an interesting day out on the hill.

Oops. No offence intended to RT - just read the tgo article and see that he makes the point already about good routes not crossing the summit.

I'm sure Trial won't copy the idea though, and the big secret will be my first suggestion instead.
