I'll bet she had to bend down a long way to put the plaster on!

Oi! No innuendo about my mum. She once saved the life of a man who was allergic to ready brek.

Caught my left arm in a circular saw whilst cutting up wood for senior management's Brownie Pack camp fire.....discovered that sanitary pads and cellotape make excellent emergency dressings.

I know of someone who decapitated themselves while using a bench mounted circular saw.

Sanitary towels and cellotape were of absolutely no use

Ok guys..this is really really dumb..

I was about 15 yrs old. We were playing football in the local park and the ball got stuck in a tree. Instead of climbing..we used to throw stones at it..try and knock it out.

It was about 30-40ft high in the tree and I picked up a piece of solid stone about half housebrick size. Positioned myself directly below the ball and underarmed it straight up..bang!...direct hit...

Well lol!...instead of keeping my eye on the stone..I decided to show off and to try and catch the falling ball on my foot. A second or so after the ball hitting my foot..the stone came crashing down and hit me square on the left brow/bridge of my nose..

Felt like being hit by a hammer..amazingly though..my nose didn't break. My face was covered in blood with a nasty gash along the bridge/brow..but I was still standing..albeit stars everywhere lol! I think if my brow haden't absorbed some of the force..my nose would've just exploded..so I was pretty lucky. Also lucky it has left no trace.

Never broke any bones or anything like that. Something else that I can remember is bending down to stroke my uncles dog..when I was about 10 yrs old.

I scared it by accident..and it lept up and bit me straight in my right eye. It left a gash on my eyelid and I had to wear a patch for weeks. The doctor said I kept my eye..by a fraction of a millimeter..luckiest I've ever been in my life....

Then there's slipping in the bath and putting my elbow straight through a Nivea cream tub..went to hospital with it attached to my elbow..but we won't go there lol!...

Jees..I do blab on and on...lol

Kev

I belong to a climbing club that has an award, presented at the Christmas dinner, for the least convincing injury. The Golden Crutch or La Bequile d'Or, to give it its proper title, is treasured by the unfortunate holder until the next dinner. It replaces the Golden Zimmer Frame which disappeared after its first award ceremony. Please check the bushes at the bottom of any crag you pass on your next trip, it may yet turn up.

A mate of mine was oiling the chain of his GPZ 750 (a motorcycle). The engine was running with the rear wheel off the ground. I can't remember why but there was no chainguard.

Yup, he caught his fingers between the chain and the rear sprocket - it snipped three of them off right below the knuckle.

Is that silly or unfortunate?
