Nice to see Jons article, as a long term user of their rucksacks, I'd love to know if they had a new alpiniste 45+10 on show or in production, I don't know what I'd do without one.
Anybody else rely so heavily on one piece of kit?

Although, have you seen Blacks new line of exclusive karrimor clothes, oh dear.

karrimor, has there ever been such goodwill towards A brand name?Well my entire cycle carear was based on the brilliant karrimor Iberian panniers and as I drift towards walking that is based on karrimor rucsac.Good luck old friend.

I must admit that I'm never out on the hill without my paclite or summit jacket.
I always found the sizing to be a bit strange though - sometimes I'm an 8, sometimes I'm a 14 (for movement, not pie) - but a lot of outdoor gear is like this.
I sometimes wonder if they forget about girls bums and hips?

But the jackets and hot ice and alpiniste rucksacks are ace!

So glad to hear that Karrimor will continue to be with us, but I would like to know if their top of the range Expedition packs will also be continuing.

Good God No!
Mike Parsons designed the old classic karrimor sacks, the kimmsack included. He sold karrimor in 1996 and took his design expertise with him and started producing kimmlite and now OMM kit (rebranding to distance themselves from karrimor).
Karrimor kept the same designs and developed them by making them heavier, more padded and more complicated every season until the Alpiniste 45+10 weighed in at 17kg or something by the time of their demise a couple of years ago.
OMM stuff is fantastic lightweight kit which has slowly been developed over the last few years, in a few weeks the '07 stuff will be out. It is inspired and deserves to bury the currently favoured US lightweight kit.
So there :o)

Oops, back to my real name again.
The old kimm sack has it's closest ancestor in the OMM MM32L.
Have a wee look at last years.
