Well, according to Jonathan, OM's shy and retiring commercial manager, we missed out Exmoor, because we're evil, northerncentric types.
I'm not that sure Exmoor's likely to be quiet over Easter, but if you want to find out, it's somewhere in the south west, I think ;-)

Forest of Bowland - "Rights of way are quite limited" you say. Come on OM, that may be so, but since it's in the Lower North West area where CROW came into effect last year shouldn't you be encouraging us to get out there and exercise our right to roam?

Fair call, the article was actually written before the CRoW Act came into effect, I'll change it.

Sorry, I'm being a pedant - but isn't the second highest peak in Wales Carnedd Ugain?
A word of warning, Cnicht isn't particularly quiet. Less popular than Snowdon, but then again, so is the rest of wales!
I'll second the Nantlle ridge for a quiet walk, i was intending to do that next week...
So i'll now have to share it with 17000 other OMers! :-p

Can't agree more with reference to the Howgills! But i should know i live there!!!! 40 mile square of unspoilt wilderness.....and a far cry from the tourist hordes... Check out great accomodation at www.parkhousefarm.com -at northern end of Howgills at head of its most dramatic valley -Langdale.

It`s good to note that the really quiet spots aren`t mentioned, so they`ll stay that way! And I won`t mention them; part of the pleasure of the outdoors is finding things for yourself IMHO

We went to the Howgills last Easter and got driven out of a normally quiet campsite by hundreds of screaming, kicking-football-at-our-tent-till-midnight kids.

Why stick to the Yorkshire Dales. Try Weardale, almost deserted, and beautiful countryside.
Exmoor (proper) is pretty quiet whenever you go.
How about Lairig Ghru? Will that be busy?
That's for Spring Bank not Easter. I'm not a month behind you lot, just been working hard and due a holiday. Got it too all next week from 5 minutes time that is.

I'm going where the sun shines brightly, going where the sea is blue. And I aint telling yer where cos I dont wanna share my patch of peaceful tent pitch turf with anybody...
