Not expensive- you'll only need one

Merino tops seem expensive on the initial outlay, but I've never worn by Dryflo synthetics since buying one, so its more expensive, but you'll only need one...

You'd think, but "I need a spare for going away" is too easy to say.
And online shopping? you don't even see the money.
They take a lot of abuse though, and you can't get a comfier base layer.

I've got an Icebreaker Chakra zip, and I love it. I wear it for walking and running, and it *really* doesn't get smelly (best not ask me how I'm sure...). I'd like another one, though, just in case something happens to the first one! My HHs are a festering at the bottom of the drawer, now.

Do all the Icebreaker stuff in the colours you can't get here.
The mondo zip, the zippy version of the l/s crewe neck Jon reviewed is the best base layer ever.

Merino stuff is ace.

After some harsh testing by three blokes with varying abilities to make baselayers smell badly enough to induce vomitting in others, it was concluded that you could wear the boxers for a week without making them whiff.

A week!? In Scotland.
By my calculations that means I only need 2 pairs of pants for any length of trip - I mean, it cant take a week to wash the spare pair, can it?

BoB , what would we call ourselves though?

It might take longer than a week for anything to dry in Scotland!

I believe Sir Peter Blake wore some of their stuff for about 40 days in 1 stretch when he did his last around the world race. At the end he felt they still didn't smell to bad....

The Icebreaker website's just been updated, they're now doing a ninja style l/s zip neck with a hood, and a light mid layer with high up pockets.
Nice.

Ah, Pass. It was mentioned in an article in a NZ mag a few years back. I remember it because I think it was mainly his (blushes) undies that he was talking about (40 days sounds a bit gross to me). I think all of the crew had stuff supplied to them by Icebreaker, maybe some of them were not as sweet smelling????

M&S merino socks are good under synthetics, keep your feet nice and fresh. Probably too thin to use on their own though.

Nice new Icebreaker Mondo zip on my doorstep this morning, in "diesel", kinda greyish to you and me, anyway,
ordered online from Queenstown NZ last wednesday, cheaper than in the UK including airmail.
