cracking TGO I thought this month. Esp the article on the Dents Du Midi. These mountains are what got me into walking and climbing. Seeing them coming over the rise whilst on a chairlift in the Village of Morgins.


Only minus point is the boot review. How can a committed bootphobe review boots ;-). Chris?

Who said I hated boots? Not me! In the right conditions I do prefer light footwear, even sandals. Light doesn't necessarily mean "not boots" though. I'd choose lightweight flexible boots over heavier stiffer shoes any day.

October to May I rarely wear shoes or sandals in the British hills due to the cool, wet weather (though I have been wearing shoes in some unsuitable conditions recently for an approach shoe feature for the July TGO). When there's snow on the hills I wear boots that will take crampons too - often plastic ski touring boots if there's enough of the white stuff for skis.
