Simon - this gets asked very very often - there was a fully-answered thread last-week-ish.
Try a forum search (box above first post of the thread) as I'm sure that all the peeps who wrote out long answers last week / month / year won't necessarily want to do it all again.
Have fun on your trip.

ALDI believe it or not have packs of survival type meals that taste really great.I really like the Chilli Con Carne. At £1.69 a pop, they're great value too.Nip down and buy one to try before you go.I think you'll be very surprised with the quality of them.Have a great time out in the open.Jim.

Key to food...what ever you fancy and what is to your taste. matters not what brand/flavour/calorific content etc etc etc if your taste buds are saying...yugh so..on a personal basis I wouldnt even consider Wayfarer and as for Beanfeast with pepperami.....

If I can get this to post its a handy little collapsible Butane gas stove.(Very light). You fill it using ordinary Gas lighter cans. For one 50ml fill it claims to be able to return 3 hours of continuous burning.I get my gas canisters out of one of the poundshops and they hold 300mls.That equates to 18 hours total burning time for one can.(_Not bad for a pound)By the way the stove cost me £8.74 From pixietinkerbell on E-Bay. How do you post pictures on here? Jim.(Night Owl).

For a trip of a couple of days I'd take real food and enjoy the cooking! by packing carefully there shouldn't be a huge weight penalty yet you'll have much more satisfying meals
Posting images depends on what browser your using.... I'm on Safari which won't but Firefox will. Theres an icon in the tool bar above the text box where you type your message. Click it and follow the instructions.

Wayfarers and Reiters? You must be rich! Tesco and most others do perfectly adequate pasta, and rice, meals for one, very cheap, very light, easy to cook. Augment them with garlic, dried tomatoes, perhaps a tin of sardines, salami or whatever. Dried bananas and instant custard are very light, too, or dried dates, apple rings, etc etc. Cuppa Soups to start.

I like the look what we found meals (available in Waitrose or Sainsburys) and Indian food: The important thing about about both of these is they are very tasty and easy to cook (immerse in boiling water).

Rosswm - ah! A resurrection?

SimonDawes... those Indian meals pictured above are currently selling for 49p each at Home Bargains in Kendal... and they really are desperately easy to prepare.

You can also get similar at B&M stores - I had thought about dehydrating them.

Paddy, these both came from my local home bargains for that price. I also buy similar stuff made by Gits from local Indian supermarkets, a little more expensive but similarly packed with flavour and easy to warm through.
