I had a fair amount I wanted to say about the latest tgo, but then I read Jim Perrin, I have to say I normally skip over his article, but this time something drew me to his words.

Please Cameron could you pass on my deepest sympathy, all I can offer are tears.

Jim's had a tough time recently. I'm sure he'll be touched by these comments.

I've rarely read anything filled with so much vivid colour, life and feeling.

How incredibly lucky they were to share it all; what a huge loss it must be for him to bear now.

It's a privelige to share in it through Jim's writing.

This is the first time I have been moved to contribute to this forum. I would like to echo all the sentiments here. I have enjoyed Jim Perrin's writing for a while now, and I hope his muse continues despite his personal tragedies. It must take great bravery to write about something so personal, but I guess that is how a born writer would deal with it.

On a broader note, TGO needs a writer that can get into the soul of the wild like Jim can, and is not just describing different ways of climbing a mountain. Both kinds of writing have their place and long may they continue.

It was a moving piece. There is certainly room for this kind of contemplative writing which can work - for those reading it - on all kinds of different levels. It's what makes TGO different. Well done Cameron.

The winter it is past, and the summer's come at last/And the small birds are singing in the trees/Their little loves are blest, oh their little hearts at rest/But my true love is far away from me.

I was also very moved by Jim Perrin's article. I don't mind admitting that I shed a few tears whilst reading it (in a public place as well..who cares?). Since reading it I have wanted to write to Jim c/o tgo to pass on my condolences but frankly....what can I say?...A beautiful, eloquent article.
