A mate has planned a couple of routes in the eastern lakes (kentmere round & high st/angle tarn). Does anyone know of any nice camp sites between kentmere & ullswater ? Preferably non caravanning & not too large/rowdy/exhorbitant. Thanks.

Was looking myself for a campsite near Kentmere a while ago and didn't find much. There's many near Ullswater (one at the base of Barton Fell,Waterside House Campsite) but it does take caravans as well as tents. There were also a couple on the eastern shores of Ullswater (walked past them a couple of months ago), can't remember the name of them but I think the were NT sites for tenters only. Best try searching for the NT ones as these are the most obscure and mainly for tenters.

Phil - he said not too large / exorbitant - Sykeside is both ;o)

Don't think this was the one I passed but it's on the same side of the lake (on the Howtown side). Website... http://www.crossdormont.co.uk/.

I know we got off the Ullswater ferry and turned South to walk back round the lake to Glenridding and passed 2 campsites on the that side of the lake (there's also a nice one at Glenridding itself ...http://www.gillsidecaravanandcampingsite.co.uk/)

Wish I could remember the name of them for you but I must be having a senile moment :-(

One of the ones on the opposite side from Glenridding is Side Farm.
