Am I the only one who thinks this jacket looks really dated? Massive black water resistant zips went out of fashion years ago (Most jackets use those really thin ones and now colour matched to the fabric). Rab may use some of the latest fabrics but their designs are stuck in the past.

Their stuff may function well but when so many other companies are making good stuff it often comes down to colour, style, and detailing when making the purchasing decision.

I am pretty sure most will agree?

What I can't see about it - are the pockets venting, does it have a hood and does it have a drawcord hem - has anybody managed to spy that out?

If so, it would look worth waiting for to me.

I don't care a hoot about fashion, but I'd prefer a flap in front and even over the water resistant pocket zips. I do care about colour though and I would rather not buy a jacket that isn't green, gray or blue.

Looks ok to me, g0_Bandit, but I'm not particularly fashion aware :)

Nope.

Function, function and price are my criteria.

And colour is included in function; would never buy a bright yellow jacket for hill use. Unless I was planning something Alpine (v. unlikely...), when I'd be concerned about solar over-heating.

It has a rollaway hood with a wired peak and also comes in black and indigo (mid blue).

It looks pretty good to me but then I'm looking at it with regard to performance and weight.

I've used a few jackets with waterproof zips now and I haven't had any leakage that I've noticed. If a water-resistant zip is curved with the teeth on the outside then it can leak but the degree of curvature is such that it's very unlikely to occur while walking.

perhaps large zips remain water resistant for longer and are more durable than colour coded thin ones?
who cares - do they work?
you want protection from the elements? then get something that does the job. if it looks nice too, then that's an added bonus. if it ain't broke etc

the new arc'teryx water resistant zips look just like 'normal' zips and are apparently much tougher and water resistant.

I think you will find the front zip is a no 5 which is standard across all brands, no matter who they are!!

I know Rab were looking at producing a superlight Event smock for Adventure race / MM use - but apparently not enough shops were interested. This jacket strikes me as too heavy - most 'multisport' jackets now are around 200 - 300 grams max.

who gives a monkeys how fasionable a waterproof jacket is. it is designed to be A;lightweight B;waterproof and C;breathable. now i don't claim to know much about the outdoor world. however if a produce does what it claims to do. then thats all the produce needs to keep people happy, warm, and above all dry in the hills.

if you agree i would like to here from you. and if you don't. well. thats your own look out
