Hi,

I am looking to get a new pair of trousers for my up coming Mt Blanc climb and for future use in the alps. Does anyone have any good ones or which ones should be avoided ?

If your talkin about the high peaks then I approach the huts in shorts or just a very lightweight pr of cotton trousers (the same ones I probably flew to geneve in and wear down in the valleys). Then for the high alt. route I wear just a pr of overtrousers, waterproofs, goretex trousers etc (whatever you call them) over a pr of undies. It means I don't carry them in my rucsack, I'm immediately ready for bad weather and I won't overheat with just a pr of waterproof trousers on.

I've always found this the best, most comfortable option.

I found Paramos much too warm, so a single layer goretex or equiv. is better.

I think the normal 'British' attire is Ronhills and gaiters with waterproofs in your rucsack.

You just need something which won't cause you to get too warm once the sun comes up.

MILLET SUMMITER PANTS - FANTASTIC!! You can wear them all the way from Cham to the top of Mt Blanc and not get damp or cold. Expensive though at about £170 at Snells sports in Cham.
