hi,
need some advice on shells; i mainly do walking; munro's mainly. I want a jacket that will also cope with scottish winter conditions, and i kid myself that i might go into the alps. Any suggestions would be helpful, also Gore tex or Event, which is better?
thanks

i run hot and find Event works best for me, have not over heated or suffered from unacceptable condensation. Either Rab or Montaine, pick a jacket that fit's you and has the right features for your needs.

Only thing with the event is it appears not to be as windproof as gore-tex, but I like this ‘cause I’m hot anyway

There are a tonne of suitable Gore or eVent jackets out there depending on whether you want a shorter climbing style shell or a more traditional walking jacket. What price are you willing to pay? What do you have at the moment and what do you think of it?

well at the moment i have a goretex sprayway torridon model (i think, defintely sprayway though) it was reduced from £200 to £100. I would be reluctant to pay over £200 for a new jacket.

Have you thought of the dreaded P*****

It works for me when I am Munro bashing
