Apparently I do not need another tent!
I have:
mansion tent for the world to fit into
luxury VE25 studio
one person hovel
I still need a tent I can be comfortable on my own in for a week or so. Preferably where I can sit up on a chair as I'm very old now and sitting in a tent (even with a thermarest chair) starts to get uncomfortable after a couple of hours in the evening.
I would use it in Scotland in Feb/March (soon) so nneds to be strong.
I was thinking about Vango Equinox but :
can you sit on a chair in the 350 or can you detach the smaller inner in the 450
Any other options??

Well, I can think of at least two more types of tent I could use! One to fly with, but is spacious enough for several days.....how about a Nallo 2 GT? Then the massive one with lots of ventilation sor sunny places.
I could go on..... and on, and on;))

I have an equinox 350 and have no problems sitting up in a chair in it and im 6' 2"

it might be a bit big just for one person tho as its a 3+ man tent.

Yep I have a Gamma 350 from vango that cost the princely sum of about £40 from the outdoor shop and that is big enough to sit up in but not very light.

Are you after something backpackable or a car camping tent?

Just car camping. Must stand up to Scottish winter....probably not a heay snow load...havre the VE25 for that, but the stiff breezes they get!

The euinox may be the answer.......oe some type of windbreak and tarp cover for cooking etc.
Generally I cook in the porch of the VE 25 which works fine, but for 10 days is a bit cramped. Plenty of room inside though!
Perhaps I'll get to look at an equinox over the weekend.
The 450 has even more space so might get a vote in the OH stakes as all 3 of us can use it comfortably. Ha what am I suggesting? Teenage daughter will come, but OH?? Not if it is cold, she is a fair weather "only if we cannot afford a cottahe and I really have to" camper!


oggy...is your chair a normal height chair (!)..ie not one of those floor level types??

Julie, we used the Equinox 450 for a couple of years and thought it was a fine tent, with the exception of the smaller inner. That would be fine for one person, though, and if you didn't bother with that inner there would be space for probably two people to lounge around in chairs.

You could very easily unclip the small inner at any time to give you more space for your chairs, so you'd have total flexibility.

Is it easy to put up for one (short) person?

Being quite a big tent, it wouldn't be ideal for one person (short or not), but it is do-able, albeit slowly. Once you'd threaded the poles into the end holes and pegged out the rear, you could then drag the whole thing forward pole by pole to tension it. The inners are simple to fix.

We also used it on a couple of fly-camp holidays, where the relatively low weight (for a family tent) came in handy.

Hmm. The 350 might be a better choice the....or both as well as a couple of others for different purposes....what was it Peewiglet said? "you can NEVER have enough...."

Hi Julie, my chair is one of those standard camping chairs, that fold up.

its a decent height not one that you sit on the floor.
