MSR Pocketrocket or.... something else? And if so what? hehe
Im after a lightweight (not top priority, but must weigh a ton or be massive), cheap, powerful stove to cook me tea on when i go camping/trekking or whatever else. What do people reckon?

As already mentioned the gas stoves such as MSR are great for short trips but if you are going on longer trips I would get a multi fuel.

The primus omni fuel will burn most fuels as well as gas so you can go lighter with a gas canister for short trips and take paraffin/ petrol etc on longer trips.

Obviously the flexibility of a multi fuel comes at a cost though- probably 100 quid area.

I really like the Primus Micron. It's tiny and very light, and I've been using it for backpacking for a couple of years now.

I'd swear by a primus Gravity (http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/news/article/mps/UAN/3335/v/1/sp/)

It's slightly more expensive and if you go somewhere where the national costume is a loin cloth you wont be able to find gas but apart from that it's a superb stove. The greatest advantage is it wont fall over if you tickle it on one side like a pocket rocket or similar...

the coleman f1 is the lightest.or jet ti from vargo is supposed to be good.

i use a kovea camp 3 with piezo (which will be removed when it fails) i paid £22
90g in weight. my favourite bit of kit. very powerful and grips the pan well.

i always think the remote burner stoves are the best, easier to use and more stable. ive got an old coleman alpine which is bomb proof. but too heavy and slow compared to newer models.

if you can afford more weight and more ££££ and want more stability id look for one of these optimus stella, they look the business, and ill be green when i see someone using 1.(hmm maybe i should get 1)

Another thumbs up for the Coleman F1 Lite. You can pick it up for less than £20 brand new and its absolutely brilliant, never ever let me down and over performed even on summits.

The primus gravity also gets my vote. A superb piece of kit.

I agree with Alex and Kevin. Primus Gravity gets my vote. Heavier and bigger than the titanium screw-ins, but no more pans tipping over, has nice control and sits well on the ground.

ive not used the gravity but it sure looks a class bit of kit. and i know from experiance that these type of burners are so much more stable. espicially if cooking for more than 1.

IIRC, someone (Primus?) is working on a lightweight freestanding stove similar to the Gravity arrangement, but where the parts fold up like the Pocket-Rocket. Or maybe I just dreamt it?

If you're not too bothered about carrying a few extra grams and paying a bit over the odds (come on, use that staff discount ;)), go for the MSR Windpro.

I have a pocket rocket and its very good if all you want to do is boil water quickly. Combined with a smallish titanium pot its a very lightweight combination. So when intending to live off cup-a-soup and dehydrated meals that's usually all I take.
Its more difficult to do any 'proper' cooking. The flame area is quite small, and the base of titanium pans are thin and don't conduct the heat around much. This leads to a hot spot in the centre of the pan and its easy to burn things. So for example if making my morning porridge I have to turn the flame down very low and stir it about constantly.
It hasn't any windshield, though you can make a passable one yourself out of thick tinfoil (think disposable roasting dish or the like).
I also have a trangia, which I much prefer for cooking on, but is of course a lot heavier. You just have to let your stomach and your legs fight it out to decide which to take!

I was thinking of trying a bigger gas stove like the gravity, as a wider flame should help a lot. I seem to remember the gravity was Chris Townsend's favourite from a TGO test last year.

I think the foldy-up one is this
which looks quite interesting.

The folding Gravity-lookalike is indeed the one DandyMountainMan linked to. It's by Optimus (who make quality kit, I love my Nova) and Jon also wrote about it on the site earlier this month here.

Aye, that was the one, Dandy and Matt. Nice looking bit of kit. FAB.

Wow, I really can't imagine myself ever saying that about a cooker in John Lewis'.

And in case you want to look at the pictures and hear the sounds:
