Berghaus Storm GTX boots
Are they still available?

If not, are there any equally good equivalent FABRIC boots, preferably blue or dark grey/graphite?
A Goretex membrane or similar would be beneficial and they must be stiff enough and grippy enough for scrambling.

Not sure about the "storm" boots but they do the Explorer 4 (~£79), Moreno GTX (£99- fairly stiff Vibram sole) and the GR20 (£120 - their proper mountain walking/trekking boot). Best to go and try them on!

Otherwise I like the look of the Scarpa ZG65 (£99) as a fabric goretex boot with Vibram sole. Comes in black too! Depends which brand fits you best.

There's nothing as good as the old Storms out there now. I had to desert to Scarpa when my were worn out.

Am I asking for trouble if I used the Explorer IV GTX in the hills, possibly scrambling?
I am also looking at the Moreno GTX or the Scarpa Peak GTX.

My only experience with Explorer IVs is that a few of my mates have them, and they continually walk around with soaking wet feet. :-(

Funny you should mentiuon that Ben i have just returned a pair of exp' III's as they are leaking like a leaky thing.

Maybe its a design issue?

I really don't know Drew, but I have at least 2 mates that I walk with who wear them and I can't believe that they walk entire weekend trips with such wet feet. On this experience I just don't buy goretex boots at all.
