I have one each of the above jackets (it's a long story, but one may be going back to the retailer). One says on the arm 'Paclite' and the other says 'Extrem Paclite' or something similar. Is there any difference? Is one better than the other?

I'm assuming you're referring to berghaus jackets? In which case 'extrem' is berghaus's lightweight range of clothing, not referring to the type of paclite itself. If its not berghaus, then I might be wrong...

The Paclite Trek jacket comes under Berghaus' 'Extrem' range of products:

Berghaus Extrem

I have a feeling it wasn't in the past.

So it may be that you have jackets of two vintages, the non-Extrem one being older, perhaps. Or it could be that they changed the categorisation or labelling mid-season.

Look carefully at the hang tags to see if there are any giveaway dates or other detail differences.

I've had Bergaus Paclite Extrem over-trousers for 2 or 3 years now. I can't remember whether my jacket (a more recent purchase) says the same, but I'll have a look and post back.

The Trek is now technically "Extrem Light" not just "Extrem". Obviously changing the label doesn't actually make it any better.

The Extrem was advertised as Graphite which when I was at school meant a grey or slate colour. This one was a royal blueish colour so is going back to the supplier. I have a Medium dark blue (Eclipse?)Paclite Trek for sale which has been worn literally for a few minutes and is in new condition. It is too baggy on me even with a fleece on as Berghaus seem to cut their cloth generously. I cut the labels off but I still have them. Anybody interested?
