Alpkit Mytimug lid
Am I just being fussy?!

Got a "new style" Mytimug the other day. Gosh it's light.

But... the lid seems a bit wonky, nothing too bad but if it was a domestic saucepan I'd be straight back to the shop.

Am I just being a fussy git? Would it end up battered out of shape soon anyway?

Give them a ring, their customer service is supposed to be very good, and see what they say.

I assume they're resoved the copyright issues then?

That's a Yes on both counts eh Macsen? That's what I figured!

Might give them a call.

The copyright issue has indeed been resolved, the little wooden blob handle on the lid is subtly different, and about 8g lighter - which means I only have to shave half the bristles off my toothbrush now ;-)

I have recently bought one, and my lid wasn't flat either.

I managed to bend it by hand into shape.

What also bothered me was, my stove gas bottle won't fit inside, as shown on their site.

Suppose you can't complain at the price.

On a brighter note, the fat aric and delivery was bril!!

I got one too and the lid isn't a great fit, not like the MSR Titan Kettle where the lid fits on tight enough to invert the pot - but then I figure that's the difference between a £15 pot and a £40 pot!

As to the gas canister, I bet their photo is of a 100g gas cannister - they fit inside...

Just to add insult to injury - the MSR kettle lid fits beautifully. Tight enough to be able to drain pasta/rice etc and loose enough as not to be a pain. A 220g canister slots inside nicely. I've had one for 2 years and there's not a mark or dent in it. Its a fabulous design and piece of kit. It's worth £40 but most people buy them off ebay for £25.

Hmmm... I'll give the gas bottle a try tonight. Otherwise it's just the right size for a pair of red rambling socks!

The had to custom bend the lid so it wasn't the same as Vargos :op

Very good ptc!

My lid doesn't fit snugly either but what's more important is that I've misplaced my TiFoon! It's somewhere in the house but where did I put it???
Might just have to buy another!!

I got one last week and the lid fits fine on mine.

My lid fits fine I think - haven't noticed anything untoward although I haven't tried turning it upside down to see if it's still attached. Surely a lid that just rests on top shouldn't stay on upside down while you drain rice or it would be too tricky to take off when hot??

Out of interest, whats the diameter of the Alpkit mug. Cheers

A Primus Power Gas 100gm canister fits in easily and I can get my F1 Lite in on top of it too.

Diameter = 10.5 cms from outer lip to outer lip.
Height = a scrince more than 10 cm.

I have a Mont-Bell Titanium 1 litre pan with lid for use with my Alpine stove (greater diameter and shallower, 13.8cm x 6.5cm) and it seems even lighter than my Mytimug. I'll have to weigh them both when I have the time.

I only wonder as Im contemplating the purchase of one but not sure if it's too small for my Primus Gravity stove (i.e. the flames will simply lick up the side). I've had a look at you're Montbell pan FGL and that looks like the dogs. May I ask where you sourced it from!?

Monkey, I've got a Primus Gravity and I don't have a problem with the MytiMug on it. 100 gm canister fits inside too.

Good stuff, I may have to invest. How do you store you're stove office manager? At the moment I have a cheapish alu pan that nicely fits the gravity and 1 250g OR 2 100g cannisters in along with a few other bits anb bobs. I was thinking of the mytimug (or similar) in an attempt to cut down on space as opposed to weight but I guess there's no need for a pan handle with the mytimug so it'd just be the mytimug with a cannister in and the gravity separate in my pack somewhere

Oh, and windshield somewhere. Yet to finda good windshield alternative mind

My gravity came in a drawstring bag complete with windshield and ground heat reflector sheet. I just bung the lot in my sack I'm afraid!! I do keep my TiFoon and a teaspoon in there as well. My 100 gas goes in the MyTimug.

I'm not a great one for being extra fussy about weight ....if I was I probably wouldn't have bought the Gravity!! LOL
