Montane superfly or superfly xt could be wroth a look i just got the XT recently and am very impressed. they can both be had on special offer at the moment.

is the XT more of a winter jacket?

what sort of dosh can they be had for?

Show/hide user stats
The xt is a bit heavier at 550g and has reinforced bits so its good under a rucsac. It also has a few vents you can use if you run hot

i think the supefly can be had for £88 and the XT for £149
Damo - from what you said you wanted the jacket for the Drillium is probably what you are after.

Short cut ideal for running and the way the hood works still lets you see out of the corners of your eyes so great for out on the bike also (if you have the hood up that is) - the hood will fold away under the collar which is great for on your bike also.

The hood's a roll-away one, so it's bit compromised if things get really gnarly and offers very limited protection from side winds and driven sleet / rain in particular. Otherwise it's a nice jacket, the hood thing tends to be the case with most roll-away ones btw.
Indeed, and an ideal jacket for the summer uses you mention Damo.

Marmot precip?

Short, cheap (can be had for £40), not as breathable as event but pit zips help. Lightweight.

I've had the drillium for about 8 months now and I'm very pleased with it - very breathable & great hood. I posted a review a while ago.

G'day from the colonies. Anyone had any experience with the Quickfire? I am looking for a light eVENT jacket. I am looking at the Drillium and the Quickfire, but probably leaning towards the Quickfire due to the venting. As I would be buying sight unseen, any help would be appreciated.

The Drillium came top out of 18 multi-activity jackets tested by,dare I say it,Trail mag.(Nov 2006)
