I try and were my TNF Hedgehog's when ever possible but the last time I was out in the rain my feet got wet. The shoe's worked well the problem was water running of my waterproof trouser's into my shoe's. I was thinking that ankle gaiters may sort this problem when worn under the waterproof trousers
any comments or suggestions on any that may work?

There was a picture of some trail shoes withbuilt-in gaiters in the last TGO,maybe they are available seperately

I use the Paramo ankle gaiters for exactly this. Work very well. Might be a bit heavy if you're running tho.

Paramo short gaiters are what you need.

Innov8 have some neat-looking 'gaiter socks' due out early next year if you can wait including a merino-lined version for extra warmth. The North Face has a Gore-Tex winter gaiter that looks like a fairly universal fit as well.

Jon The north face one's look ideal but they clip onto the side of compatible shoe's. It's a shame really

Integral Designs eVENT ones are quite good (and surprisingly durable) and are available in the UK from http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/Montbell's stretch softshell ones are another possibility, but, as far as I know, not available here. The under-shoe cords will wear out quite quickly, but are easy to replace. I still haven't found anything that works properly in snow yet though - the back of the gaiter rides up above the shoe heel.

NSJ can to get them on while wearing your tail shoe's?

Trekmates paclite gaiters aren't bad, probably not as light as the ID ones, but you don't have to take your shoes off to put them on, and the underfoot strap is pretty tough. They are also elasticated which may help seal to your shoes, though adding a hook at the front to hook into your shoelaces would improve that further. I've only used them with boots though.

From my experience of gaiters, I think you'd have a problem keeping them down at the back of your trail shoes, they may ride up and sit on your achilles tendon just above the back of the shoe. They'd stay down at the sides and front though, and that might be all you need. I always thought gaiters were designed to be fitted to boots, perhaps another member has experience of fitting them to trail shoes.
Edit: Oops! I didn't read the thread properly, someone's already mentioned the back riding up.

Both the ID and Montbell versions have to be put on before the shoes - but I've not found this a problem, as I use them all day to keep grit out of the shoes.
