I need a new lightweight pair of waterproof trousers .Thinking of Berghaus paclite or Montane atomic pants. Any feedback from users appreciated.

might not be quite what your after but my ex-army DPM goretex trousers weigh 282g and cost £10. ok they might be twice the weight of the lightest but these are tough pair of pants!

i got some montane air pants from the factory shop via mail order, they are nice and light weight and also were a bargain at £50

wildtrack in newcastle had a couple of pair of what i think were atomic pants (they had a a full zip, down to £75 which seemed like a bargain, it may be worth checking their website or giving them a ring.

They're both good choices if you're after a pair of "occasional use" waterproof troo's.

Both very light, waterproof and I've never had any problems with condensation.

The Paclites have a full length zip which makes them a bit more practical (ie easier to get on/off & ventilate) than the Atomics which have a zip that comes up to just under the knee. (Or over, if you've got short legs)

Durability might be an issue if you're planning on using them a lot and I'd steer well clear of any scrambling.

Fit-wise, the Paclites are cut narrower and longer in the leg than the Atomics but larger in the waist. So, while the Medium Paclites fit fine, I had to go up a size with the Atomics to get a decent leg-length.

Hope that all makes sense and if you've any other questions, ask away.

I had a gander at ' Technicals' Limitless waterproof+breathable pants in Blacks ...[the Outdoors Experts...sic] recently, made from'Hydrotech' fabric. they seemed quite lightweight and well priced at £37.
I'm certainly considering them to replace my old Sprayway Rain pants, as I think Paclite ones are vastly overrated and overpriced.
