A friend finally got around to trying out the tent she picked up at a boot sale... That's not a tent. THIS is a tent

Easy on the eye, fits in sympathetically with the landscape (if you're in an orange grove).
Those things cost a few grand - some car boot sale.
Crikey. What you get a boot sales, eh?
Who picks up a Space Station at a boot sale? Those things are $5000 new! Any idea how much she paid for it?
Awesome! Wouldent it be funny to come across her wildcamping somewhere, you would think aliens have landed or something! Weigh a lot though dont they.
Tsk, at a mere 23kg, 'tis nearly light enough to get into one of trails "ultralight" tent tests!!! (...and probably win it on the grounds of increased stability.)
;-)

And I was chuffed at winning a Terra Nova Quasar! So come on cp, where was this boot sale, sounds a better bet for a bargain than rummaging at TKMaxx ;-)

Perhaps it was the Everest Basecamp Womens Institute rally? All proceeds from sale of specialist mountain kit and sponge cake to go to Kathmandu Yak Sanctuary?
I see from the picture that it was custom made to fit in your garden! :))))) Got to be bargain of the century!
Actually, 23kg divided by 15 berth = 1.3kg per person, which is approaching ultralight. Maybe your friend could organise an OM meet to the polar ice caps, it would certainly keep the tarp and meth's brigade quiet! :-)
Tarp and Meths Brigade! He he he, good name.
I'm sworn to secrecy on the source of this and other bargains, but, suffice to say it would make your toes curl if you found out just how cheap it was... A lot, lot, lot less than $5000.
Naturally, being an inveterate bargain hunter, I am green with envy.
At 23kg, it's only a bit more than three times as heavy as the tent Trail suggested for a beginner's wild camp (yes, 7kg).

absolutley stunning. I applaud the buyer on an incredible piece of kit.

He, he, I love that second picture, the way it dwarfs the other tents! She should take it to the OMM or another mountain marathon. Or maybe roll up in a Hummer with it to a Backpacking Club meeting. Lol!!
 wow!!!! but why????
andrew
mobile disco? Lunar base? Refugee camp for flood victims? Please enlighten us...
 Very expensive bog?
Summer house? Shed? The question is; do you need planning permission for it?
lol captain! You must be mistaken, that surely is a backpacking tent you posted there! I bet it hasn't even got a separate kitchen! I would love to post a picture of my own big tent but I've lost the camera somewhere in one of the rooms.
But please, if you are going to post about big tents then please make sure they are exactly that. I mean, you could only fit about 20 people into that one, not exactly massive is it? I have championed big tents for many years and believe me, I do know what I'm talking about.
