I recently got my mother one of these for her birthday, she had been wanting a short trekking pole for ages that would go in her diddy little case when she goes gallivanting off around the globe on her holidays - at only 53cm long (not extended) - it is ideal.
she reported back to me that it was truly excellent in the alps last week.
She had really been wanting an anti-shock pole like the brasher one she has been using for a long time but antishock doesn't seem to be availible in the short poles - and she admited she could not tell the difference.
craghoppers also do a short pole 53-98cm but its got a funny handle on the top, i saw another short pole at the outdoors show, but this had a torch built built into the handle (un-named brand)
