Which could be used in the hills

I saw this:

in a local fishing shop. I'm one for carrying the odd gadget (camera, GPS, etc) and thought that this kind of thing would be ideal. There were quite a few similar models with varying combinations of chest pouches and backpacks, hydration system compatible. They looked comfortable and robust enough.

What do you think, and have you seen anything else, shooting, fishing, etc, which would transfer across to the hills?

Hmm, doesn't the front section obstruct the view of your feet, at least partially? And from the photos at least it looks pretty heavy - lots and lots of zips.

The front pack would help to counterbalance the back though - but these guys have designed rucksacks for walking with that very much in mind (and they are really, really comfortable), and plenty of up-front storage for gadgets, snacks, water, hat, etc.

I was going to bring in the Aarn packs... but you got there first!

I don't think it is exactly what you meant, but almost all of my baselayer stuff serves for sportswear and vice-versa. I often use an Asic running jacket to keep off the worst of the wind and rain as it has handy pockets, vents, a cosy collar and a hood (absent from many windproofs). And I have also been known to hike in Ron Hill tracksters (but not lately!). Likewise, I often run in Helly LIFA and SubZero baselayers and use Bridgedale liner socks doubled-up for long distance running.

I prefer to buy polyvalent kit rather than stuff specific to only one of my activities.

I wear a Lowe Alpine TLZ Mini on my chest

which does block the view of my feet slightly, I have to offset it on descents. I also have two berghaus GPS cases

for GPS and binos. It can look a bit of a mess at times, one of those backpack/chest rig combos would be quite handy.

A lightweight Concurve running jacket with zip off sleeves over a base layer does me for hillwalking for most of the year.
