Recently bought one, but not sampled it in use yet.

Sean,

How much for the tent?

My aging two man is rotting. Is it big enough for two adults?

You wonderful little self publicist you!!!!Good review though; as in if I were previously undecided, which I wasn't though I hasten to add, I would be wanting one of the little Vango tents for sure now anyway, after reading the glowing report at that above little link!

I should add though here Donny that you don't need to keep posts of that more specialised review type to the Forum section of OM! Just instead click on the Reviews section at the top of the OM page banner heading there, and your reviews-and here is hoping this is but the first of many now here on OM-can live in there indeed for ever and a day, in continued everlasting perpetuity of good purpose as a User Review!

Cheers Trev. The reason I didn't enter my review in the reviews section is that the new 2008 banshee model isn't listed...The 2007 model is, but i thought i'd ask for the new one to be listed and then add my review to that...i haven't got round to asking yet though!

I look forward very much to more glowing reports further still from you on the tent there then Donny; once it gets listed anew to the vast existing plethora of others, that already are proudly displayed there on the good old OM user reviews section!

Hi Donny great review I was wondering if you could help me. I have just bought a Banshee & it was supplied with a sponge piece that I have no idea what to do with it. The instructions don't help much either, Do you know what you are mean to do with this sponge & what it's meant to do?

 Regards Allan

Hi Allan. Sorry for the late reply!

My sponge piece was already in place. It goes on the wider end of the tent, right above where your head would be when sleeping.  It ties onto some little bands of fabric attached to either the inner or outer tent. It goes inbetween to stop them touching each other on the slope down.

Well I'm new to this site so don't know how to put in a review correctly but if some one can cut this bit below out & put it in the review page then that would be great.

Well what can I say about the Banshee other than "The best tent I have Ever owned!" It is a fantastic tent & at 2kg I'm surprised anyone can say they need a lighter tent. It is a great bit of kit I used it on my Summer Mountain Leader Training pitched it on dry flat land. Had very heavy rain that night & woke up with a stream flowing under the tent. Not even the smallest bit of water got into the tent thanks to the Bathtub groundsheet. Two of us slept in the tent though the Rucksacks have to be kept out side (On slightly Higher land I'm glad to say) under rain covers but you would expect this in such a small tent. The tent is very easy to put up & dry's very quickly. Could do with a slightly bigger opening at the front to allow for better cooking but other than that it is a fantastc tent for £80 & I would reccomend it to anyone.

I have pictures of the stream flowing under the tent!!

Well we share the same opinion on the tent then allan. I was in heavy rain and wind, on water logged land and no water came in, I'm dead impressed. I can't wait to go out in it again! And if you read my review, you shall find out how i overcome the lack of space in the porch area...(i think i included it in there anyway) As you said, it's astonishing value for money. I only payed £59 for mine, with free delivery too

I took my Banshee to N Wales at New Year, and found that in sub-zero temperatures the elastic in the poles simply stops being elastic, which means you can't get the poles together and thus can't get it fully erected. I was lucky that there was no wind to knock it over.  It's a horrible problem - I don't know if Vango use other elastic on more rugged tents: I've asked them but not had a satisfactory reply yet.  In the meantime I've cut the elastic shorter and re-threaded but not yet tried it out.

now there's a problem i'd never considered!  i've only used a hilleberg in sub-zero (about -6) but no problems with unelastic elastic.

yeah imagine if vango started making knickers and the elastic became frozen you'd have to cut them off

Welcome to the forum there David, please do let us all know the outcome there of that enquiry to Vango; as I am sure there will be a good deal of us most interested in their answer to you here on the experienced elastics problem!
