Hello,

I am going to purchase a Montane Lite-Speed Jacket.

I have had a look through a few topics on the forums and can see that there seems to be some discussion as to the sizing of the Montane Kit.

It has been suggested that you should go one size up.

My North Face Fleece is XL and my Haglofs is L.

Any suggestions?

The cheapest I can find it is here:Ebay - Montane Lite-Speed

at £42.49 inc P+P

Can anyone beat that?

Thanks,

Adam

Also bought my normal size and I can get a fleece under it.

The Montane size chart may help:

http://www.montane.co.uk/images/sizechart.jpg

Comparing the chart to a North Face one we can see that the North Face XL would have chest size of 47" which would be closer to the Montane XXL than the XL.

Comparing to a Haglofs Chart we see that the L is  41 1/9" which would in theory correspond to a Montane L.

That doesn't actually help you much, it just tells you that your Haglofs fleece should be quite a bit smaller than your North Face one.

I also bought mine from Outdoormania. Bit slow as they were out of stock but they were most helpful on the phone.

My LA Dryflo T-shirt is medium and the medium Lite-speed is fine over a lightweight fleece and baselayer.

Enjoy the jacket when you do get it. I felt mine was too flimsy and lightweight at first but now, it just goes everywhere with me. They are stronger than they look.

Adam it looks like you're a Pole so I'll use our beautiful mother-tongue.

Kupiłem M-kę w outdoormanii, a potem S-kę z e-bay. M-ka jest starym modelem, s-ka to nowy. Wydaje mi się, że jakaś partia starych lite-speed miała zaniżoną rozmiarówkę, ale obecnie wszystko jest w normie i kupuj swój rozmiar,

tu masz mój opis bluzy, zamieściłem też swoje zdjęcia w M-ce i S-ce:

I bought size M from outdoormania and then size S from ebay shop.Size M is an old production, size S is a newer one. I believe that old lite-speeds had incorrect sizing, but now it looks like they're true to size so buy your usual size.

Here you've got my description of the windshirt and my photos in lite-speeds size M and S:

I just picked this thread, of all the ones which hit Montane Lite-Speed, at random to post that I bought a new Lite-Speed in 2010 and comparing to the one I bought in 2007 the jacket seems improved the places I found a little irksome. The older jacket had tight elastic on the sleeves so very hard to pull over over elbows, the newer one is about larger opening and goes above the elbow but more slack for air to circulate if you're not wearing gloves under. Overall, that's an improvement.

The front pocket is bigger, although I never really used the pocket other than to stow the stuffsac so I'd not lose it. Bigger for a map? There's a soft fabric under the chin, although don't know yet if that makes it longer to dry? It also feels slightly baggier in the middle.

Overall a very good solution for a light hooded windproof.

Niggles also, the older model stuffsac didn't last that well, the fabric tearing with all the errr....stuffing. Eager to know if newer one lasts longer.
