i am looking to buy a dry bag to use with my roll mat a alpkit wee airic, what should i get??? this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=hike&ProdID=5360025116&n=multimat  or this http://www.hike-lite.co.uk/acatalog/Mountain-Equipment-Stuff.html ???

i want to carry my mat on the outside sometimes and want it to be 100% dry.

also anyone know of a bargain for a 80ish litre drybag, to line my main sack???

i look forward to hearing from you all.

How about 4 bags for the same price?  Large airlock bags by alpkit.

Might be worth giving them a ring to check they are fully waterproof / suitable to your needs.

A thick polythene shopping bag for the Airic. And if it gets a little bit wet, dry it off with a flannel from your washkit.

Lighter, cheaper, does the job.

Both should do what you want.  The mountain equipment one has the handy valve which allows you to squash all the air out easily and effectively vacuum packing the contents.  I use 'exped' dry bags with the roll top as they are cheapish, and light weight.  They come in different colours and sizes.  They are not the toughest but are light weight and given the mat has no sharp edges they should be fine for your needs.

There are canoe/ canyoning dry bags that are very very tough and would also work well but will add significantly to the weight.

The cheapest aproach would be to use a binliner and just wrap the thing up in it - functional, lightweigh but not so cool...

Chris, i dont know if this is a bargain but www.strikeforcesupplies.co.uk  have an 80ltr drybag for £15+2 for postage.

Or www.1outdoors.co.uk  have them for £7.99 inc postage, but none in stock

Worth looking at the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil dry bags and pack liners if you want to keep weight down. They're very light but surprisingly tough.

I second the exped dry-bags for lining your rucksack. For the outside, try looking at super tough poly builders sacks - 10 for a couple of £ in B&Q.
Chris i have an EXPED 80ltr dry bag, fandabbidozzi, I also have the Alpkit Bags which are great VFM.

I'd check this out if you're thinking of storing a down sleeping bag in a Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil dry sack. See just up from bottom of page.

Cheers Glyn, jsut what I wanted to see as I bought one of those an hour ago to keep my camera safe whilst in a drum when we go Kayaking.  Doh, back to the drawing board.

Did you get anything Chris? I got an Orlien dry bag. It says its the PD 350 range. It seems really good quality materials and very well made!

The good thing is they come in quite long thin sizes so are good for roll mats.

<div align="left">I got mine from Needle Sports in Keswick.

I got the medium size so I cen put my tent in the middle of the roll mat! Tomorrow I am going to try rolling the tent up with the roll mat still inside, see if it works well or not!

Alpkit have some new drybags in snapped up a few sizes the day they came out, arrived next morning and usual top stuff as you'd expect nice tough dry bag and excellent prices!

Are the Alpkits 'submersable' dry, or strapped onto the top of a rucksack in a downpour dry?
