.jpg) Thinking about getting one. What would really decide it for me is this - are the outer tent door zips two-way? Hilleberg site doesn't tell me. One of the best things about my old Phoenix is that twin two-way zips allow me to have the bottom half of the door closed, but the top open - windshielding the stove but leaving a big hole for steam to escape, and to throw the stove out in an emergency. Plus, unzipping the door from the top lets me exit the tent with less bending and crawling, more of an issue as I get older. Plus, I can look at the view but keep the draught off me tootsies. Can't do these things with one-way zips that open from the bottom.

Hi Mr.Justice. I've got the EB version of the Phreerunner too. Agree with everything you say about the door.

.jpg) Actually it's a Phalcon, a three-hoop tunnel that predated the Phreerunner as I recall. Smaller version of the Phunnel. Both bigger than the Phreak, I have that too. Good outfit Phoenix, while they lasted.

I've used a Nallo 2 for several years now, and think it's the best tent I've ever owned (and my hill experience goes back 40 years ). Recommend it.

Always liked having twin entrances myself, so I think It'll be a Kaitum for me. Bit heavier, but more space in the inner (wider and without the vertical taper to the rear), more porch and better ventilation possibilities, but the same quality and ease of pitching. Plus, of course, if it's flexibility with the doors and porches you're after than having one at each end of the tent (with its own generous porch) is a big plus. Even more so if there happen to be 2 of you on board (in which case the extra 600g is less of an issue too). Main problem with the Kaitum is it's quite hard to find one to look at in the flesh, as most UK stockists only do Nallo and Akto. Alpenstock is an exception, which is fine if you're near Stockport... Pete.

"Main problem with the Kaitum is it's quite hard to find one to look at in the flesh" Just buy it Peter, you will not be disappointed (apart from the flysheet zips catching all the time).

Hi David, the only reason I haven't got one on order yet is I figure I might as well let the money offset my mortgage until such a time as the tent will get used. Currently looks like sometime March/April with a cyle tour around the outer Hebrides. It's possible we'll be in Den Haag for a long weekend in February, in which case there's a good chance Beversport will have one we can crawl around, but I'm convinced enough from the dimensions plus what I've seen of Nallos and our Tarra that come the time, that's the tent. Pete.

I love looking out of my Nallo as the door is so flexible,it also makes a good kennel for wet smelly Golden Retriever,it gives me to understand it prefers the Akto as it can use 50% of the tent and be used as a fragrant pillow. This leads me to the only problem i have with the Nallo which is the aluminium flexible wire. With constant packing and repacking in a 2 litre stuff sac it gets very kinked, every so often i have to dethread it and de kink it. Great tent, did like the Phoenix brand though!

_(Custom).jpg) Agree the Nallo 2 is a brilliant tent. Recommend it in red - nice glow about the inside when you wake up in the morning. I bought a GT originally then a Nallo 2 flysheet separately, so I can have the best of both worlds, lighter weight or loads of space. Nallo 2 is extremely spacious for the weight and well made. Have you considered, though, a Stevenson's Warmlite? Probably as spacious but less weight. If you wildcamp a lot this might be a better choice, 'specially if you are sharing. Alan Sloman swears by them . . .http://alansloman.blogspot.com/

I think the Nallo is a fantastic, spacious tent for one person, one that accommodate a second in comfort on an occasional basis. My mate has one of the new models and it is the bees knees I think the Kaitum is a better bet as a tent that 2 people will use regularly (esp on extended trips) - huge amount of living space, two doors and better venting, I would bet on it being more stable than a Nallo, and it still weighs less than 2 Aktos.
