Looking to do long weekend around Loch Lomond area. Web searches bring up lots of accomodation, but does anybody have any places to recommend (or avoid)?

I ate in the Village Inn Arrochar - Good real beer & fantastic food.

But, I stayed up the road in a Shearings hotel - bad news!

However, I could have stayed at the Village Inn for less than the Shearings place - I think it was £35 or £40 for single room?? This was last May.

Others I spoke to there said the rooms were great.

Thank you Nodrog - sounds good.

In Arrochar, Rowantreebank (b+b) has single rooms from £30, and they have an arrangement with the Loch Long Hotel where you can get an four-course evening meal for £7.95 (if pre-booked through the b+b).

Haven't stayed there yet, but have booked a couple of nights in Feb.
