 Seeing as the crazy Buff Slayer no longer seems to pop his head up on OM I though it safe to ask about buffs! Has anyone any experience of the cheaper Trekmates Choobs, are they just as good as the normal Buffs? Also how weatherproof are the regular versions or is it best to go for the polar versions?

 as they are both a small piece of remarkably inexpensive similar fabric sold for rather a lot, one brand is much the same as any other.

 I love my Buff a lot. But if it is really cold outside I cheat on my poor beloved Buff, by going out with my Polar Buff instead! I like both of them a good deal, but would still like to see what the new one on the trekmates block is like too! Got any links then Jamie perhaps? My Polar Buff caught in a big downpour once was awful, as it got really soaked through, and took an age to dry out too! The original Buff I had always did seem to dry out much faster when it got wet in the rain, as well as when I slipped off a footbridge into a little stream, up on the other side of the Ashdown Forest one day last year.

Word of warning on the Polar Buff -- it's b****y hot. Only ever borrowed and wore one once, on a really freezing and windy day in the North Pennines, and I just found it stifling after 10 mins. A normal buff round the neck is quite warm enough for me.

That must be why my current forces mates insist on using those on op duties-observation posts-and in static guard duties so much then! One mate in particular that suddenly now springs to mind is indeed always banging on about the usefulness of his prized camouflage Polar Buff, that keeps him warm out on his army night stag duties!

 i was lookin at the buffs in cotswold outdoor (keswick) and nearly got 1, just abit expensive i thought. thought i might make some, any1 got the basic pattern? i tried on the osprey talon 33 which ive wanted todo for eons but theyve never been in stock when ive been around - what a great sack!

They often go for decent prices on Ebay Morph the original buffs, just a case of watching every few days.
