I wore a pair in Iraq for about 4 days....blistered me up to hell, poor build quality and not very supportive and could feel every rock through the sole unit which looking at some of the lads boots in my platoon. very poor wear resistance. Some of them went through 3 pairs in 6 months through soles wearing out, seams splitting, lace eyelets ripping out. But every bodies feet are different but you can get a much better boot for the same money

I concur with Cruxter's assertion. We re supplied with Magnums patrols in the Ambulance Service. I can't stand em and certainly wouldn't wear them in the hills! Most of my colleagues feel the same too.

Why? Are you ACF/ATC/CCF/SCC because thats about all they are good for in fact if you are any of the cadet organisations they are sod all use then either (personal opinion of course. They were all the rage when i was in the Army back in the 90's providing of course you were a gym queen or just poncing around camp. There are far better boots for the outdoors than magnums. Even the standard issue boots combat high are light years ahead and they are only about 25 quid new!

Magnums are a heap of junk. Do your feet a favour & buy something decent

I have a pair of magnums, I ALWAYS get sore heels. I had a pair before, the sole came off. DON'T waste your money!
If you must have that sort of boot, google Danner or Lundhag. Bit pricey mind but far superior to magnum crap.

I thought they were rather good ice-creams. Probably a better way to spend money

Over the past last years of growing popularity for these boots-I mean I ask you, they've even got Magnum boots in my local Millets basic goods camping store and in the local sports shop here-the build quality of these boots, as they sourced them further afield to get cheap manufacture, and still keep up with the growing demand, has gone steadily downhill now big time! I agree too with everyone here that they're crap! You can even get the very similar Pro Boots make copies much cheaper these days anyway, and they do last a bit better as well! I am most happy with my Pro boots, but still though-having said that-I would still not take them out on a big walk or backpack trip into the hills!

are these teh same as Pro boot?
No, but they're bloody similar looking if you ask me! I got mine two years ago, from an outdoors/military kit supplier of the .com variety who shall remain nameless as they annoyed me so very much! It was a case of them doing as supermarkets online do with ones order you see; a way of substituting what they've got for similar items you actually specifically ordered!!! And all done without first asking me either my opinion or my permission even!!! That was how I quite purely by chance got my Pro boots you see!!

Kate is of course right again here, as the Magnum ice creams are very nice indeed!
Yes but even they are useless on the hills!
Did you have one melt on you or something while out in the wilds then Tony perhaps?

Never get to the top of Penyfan without a soggy mess in the rucksack!!

being without a doubt THE most picky footwear purchaser on the planet (and I dont even have to use my own money!) I tried a pair of magnums for a day..... they are vastly superior to the WW1 ammunition boot but inferior to the humble flip flop. I relegated the trail pair to "helping out with the gardening boots" but they didnt even do that well as the toggle thingys for the laces came off. they are absolute utter crud. dont buy them save up a bit and buy something a bit better. even proboots are better than magnums!
lowas are nice if you can stretch to them. As a matter of fact the proboot "classic" is MUCH better than magnums. even though they dont last long and are a bit rubbish. that is more of a comment on magnums than anything else.

If you want to try something in a Magnum style, then you could look to our Swedish friends Haglofs as they do a nice high boot called the Solid High. Solid High Otherwise they do a lower version called the Solid...

or buy a pair of matterhorn fort braggs or a pair of danners, which are pretty much the best boot in this stylee that I have worn, pant wettingly expensive though!
