Alpkit bag and Franklins Sheffield.

Recently sent my Alpkit AD900 to Franklins at Sheffield for cleaning. Received it back today, however 90% of the down appears to have migrated to the hood of the bag.

Has anyone else ever come across this? My girlfriends bag also came back slightly top heavy, however after a vigorous shaking, hers is more or less back to normal.

Mine resembles a 5 season at the top, then from about the 5th baffle down, next to no down in the baffles. I've spent the morning trying everything I can think of to re-distribute the down, but made little progress. The bags only been used a couple of times too.

Does it sound like a manufacturing defect or does it need to go back to Franklins? Any advice gratefully received.

I used Frankilns a few years ago and my bag was perfect on return. Suggest a couple of phone calls are in order - Alpkit has a good reputation for customer service.

I had a similar, although less servere, experience with Franklins.

My treasured Rab Ladakh 800 came back shiny clean and bouncy, but with three empty compartments over the chest area.

Franklins customer care was poor and merely claimed, "It's because the baffles aren't sealed at the end. It'll recirculate in time"

It did not, so I called Rab and received a great service. I sent it off to them and free of charge they opened it up, recirculated the down and topped it back up to full weight.

 Give Alpkit a call!

Rich

Just a quick update.

The guys at Alpkit did indeed sort the problem for me.  Think they must have taken it in turns to take the bag home, and sat there in the evenings slowly manipulating everything back to its rightful place.  The bag's as good as new now.

Can't help feeling that all this was really Franklins fault though. i'm sure they just need to turn their machine down a notch or two.

Anyway, thanks to all the guys at Alpkit, just another reason to vote for them in the OM awards.
