Endurance Pertex/Pertex 6 - much difference?

Just wondered if there is much difference between Pertex 6 and Endurance Pertex? I've been using Pertex 6 gear (Buffalo stuff) and found it very tough but I hear Endurance is supposed to be a bit more water resistent?

Endurance comes with a very light Polyurethane layer--like the kind you see on OR's Synapse wind jacket.  It does not have a liner or any print to protect the PU layer though, so it is not as durable.

I had an OR Synapse jacket, and I noticed it didn't breathe at all.  I called and found out their DWR for the jacket isn't really your typical DWR, but a thin film of PU.  I didn't like it for a jacket I sweated in.

If you're looking for an update for Pertex6, Pertex Microlight would be the closest I think? Great fabric, so is Quantum though if a little more fragile.

The good/depressing thing is that all the new Mitsui versions are looking better than the UK versions.

I've used a Rab Quantum Endurance 250 sleeping bag and the shell is very water resistant. I woke up in a very wet tent once, more of a swimming pool, and although the shell was damp to touch, the down was bone dry. Very impressed.

It is Pertex six in most of my Buffalo stuff I think, especially the so named Special 6 shirts! It is fairly tuff hard wearing stuff overall so no complaints from this end here! I shall most definitely be looking for some of the other stuff you mentioned now to take a good look at it too! Thanks for posting about it there Steve!

Endurance is a PU coating, rather than a fabric, so you can get Quantum Endurance, Microlight Endurance, etc.

Pertex 6 was a heavy weight fabric (I can't find figures ATM, but PX4 was 54g/m2, PX5 was 69g/m2).

I'd say the closest in their current range may well be Equilibrium, although this is a dual weave fabric. Microlight is a much lighter weight fabric (45g/m2).

Oh no, I've just had to go and look at the pertex website. Another travesty in Flash...
