Haglofs Barrier Hoody

Squishes up small and disappears into a pocket, light, toasty warm and the hood's great with easy adjustment.

If it's important to you,it may be worth checking if the hood detaches or can be stowed away.Neither option is available on the Haglof's Barrier Hoody (which has two reviews on this website).Don't know about the other recommended jackets.

There's also the Berghaus Infinity, which is a good jacket toward the warmer end of the spectrum.
Personally I like the Montane Flux, but that's mostly cos it fits me well and is not too expensive.
I don't think many jackets in this style have detachable hoods — they're not really fashion items, so what would be the point?

If it's cold enough to warrant a synthetic jacket, then it's cold enough for a hood IMHO.

As others have said, Haglofs Barrier Hoody is a good choice. I've practically lived in mine this winter.

Seems lots of people on this site recommend the Haglofs hoody - it isn;t primaloft material but is it still as warm and good when wet? The hoody looks like it is a bit longer than some of the other jackets mentioned?

It is Thermolite which is made by du-pont, I would not claim it as good as Primaloft one, but a very close second, 60g primaloft one would equate to 80g Thermolite, & just as effective when wet...

I was merely pointing out to Steve W that it's something he may wish to consider.For me, the option of at least a foldaway hood would be a consideration.There is no doubting the pedigree of the Haglof's Barrier hoody.
