I am currently I’m my first year of A-Level higher education and as part of my Product Design course I a required to do a Product analysis on any item of my choice. I have chosen to analyse a Leatherman k500x: http://www.leatherman.com/products/knives/k500x-k501x/default.asp

If anyone knows anything about this knife or pocket knifes in genral i would be evry happy for any information such as;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->Materials used

<!--[if !supportLists]-->Methods of construction

<!--[if !supportLists]-->Design development

<!--[if !supportLists]--> <!--[endif]-->Retail costs

<!--[if !supportLists]--> <!--[endif]-->Rough sales and financial details (nothing too specific)

<!--[if !supportLists]--> <!--[endif]-->Any other useful information you may have that could help me.

and any of your own thoughts and coments pocket knifes

thanks for any help that can be given

Why not goto the various blades forums on the web then! Even the BCUK bushcrafters forum for the UK will hold much of interest to you on knives design and useage in the various worldwide environments of the great outdoors.

Lots of people outdoors use nothing but a folding knife like an Opinel type, or a basic Swiss Army knife; as it is only when you get to the real wilderness bushcraft and wild camping activities that the need for a better-often fixed blade, or a better quality of folder blade-becomes much more of a necessary kit item for your outdoors carry and useage.As similarly does a good little pocket folding pruning type of saw like a Laplander, a nice medium sized bow-saw, and even a good camp axe for the heavier general cutting duties necessary for shelter building and campfire chores.

Matt, I can't offer much help myself but I can almost guarantee that the chaps at British Blades will fall over themselves to give you as complete an analysis as you could wish for.
