Hi all

I need somebody technically minded that knows about memory map v5.

I use this on my o2 xda orbit pda and have just upgraded the software from windows mobile 5 to windows mobile 6  and now it won't load the maps saying:

Sorry!!

Ordnance Survey licence restrictions prohibit using this map file with this version of this software.

You must use a version of memory map navigator specifically designated for the year the map was published.

This is a bummer as it all worked fine but I needed to upgrade the software so I could then use a 6 or 8gb memory card.

Does anyone know of a way to make it work and I can't go revert back to the old software.

thanks

Ryan, Geoff C who is an OMer and also has an excellent backpacking website is a memory map ace. With any luck he may come across your plea for assistance, or you could try emailing him. No idea if he'll be able to help, but he's probably worth a try.

MM doesn't like to be loaded on the main memory of some WM6 devices  loading program onto an SD card may solve it , worth a try ....<!-- THE POST -->

Thanks Kate.

I don't know much about the Windows Mobile OS software but I can't see why upgrading from WM5 to WM6 should produce that particular problem. There are certainly no issues with MM running on WM6.

RyanMc - firstly, what is your exact version of MM?. The latest is 5.1.3.

Did MM V5 load the maps successfully before updating the OS from WM5 to WM6?. If so then it sounds very strange, that problem is entirely to do with the version numbers of the MM software and the maps, not the WM software.

Anyway the best solution is probably to uninstall MM from the PDA and reinstall MM 5.1.3 from the PC following my instructions that you can get by emailing me, either via this forum or via my website. Fear not, we should have you up and running!.

It all to do with OS mapping license restrictions.  They don't allow the use of 2004 maps with 2005 software . The upgrade to wm6 should cause no problem with MM.  I'm using MM on WM6.1 with no problems.  I suspect by the error message thats its "old" maps causing the problem. If you google "Using 2004 os maps with Memory map 2005 " you should find a solution.

Hi all

Thanks for the replies.

The pocket navigator and maps were being loaded onto an sd card. The pocket navigator loaded fine and the maps seemed to do the same except when I went to open them I got the message in the above post.

I am using Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) with a 6gb sd card and my version of Memory Map v5 is Version 5.0.0 Build 608

thanks

I have experienced this before.  Provided that what Jimbob describes is what you are suffering.

I removed all MM mapping and software and then reinstalled in order i.e 2004 first then 2005.

Cheers all

Geoff helped me get it sorted. I had installed it wrong in the first place. All I need to work out now is why when I open it up it won't open the gps com port!!!!

But at least I have it installed properly now.

There is a pinned topic on the MM support forum about failure to open COM ports that might help.
