Osprey Kestrel 38L
- are they in London stores yet?

Hi All,

I'm after a new daysac and would like to try the Kestrel alongside others before splurging out. Anybody seen them in central or SW London stores?

Also is this or similar size sack allowable as airplane carry on luggage (assuming its not stuffed to the gills and covered in ice axes!) or is the frame too big?

Cheers

Roger

Ellis Brigham have them online, you could try ringing the Kensington store on 02079376889

Called in at my local Outdoor shop which sells Osprey Rucksacks only to be informed that they were unlikely to have any in stock for the next few weeks as Osprey were struggling to meet demand.E Bags appear to have all sizes in stock on their internet site with free delivery in the UK for all orders over £35,although I appreciate that you would actually like to try them on for size. The Kestrel looks a great sack and I can't wait to see one in the flesh.

Thanks Michael and Trentham,

Ellis Brigham in covent garden looked like they had some but sold out - they had the larger and 1 smaller one. Therest of teh stores in covent garden didnt have any. Itchy Feet Wardour St had 48s but wernt planning to stock the others - at least i could tell the back fitted - I do like that shop, seem to know what theyre talking about.

High st Kensington EB thought they might get a few in a week or two - but surprise Blacks next door had one so i snaffled it. Seems to tick all the right boxes and carried my weekly food shop home OK!

So what model of the Kestrel did you go for?Was it the 28 Litre?

I got the last 38 M/L that Blacks had in green. Seems well put together, reasonably light and well thought out. The only thing I dont really go for is the length of all the loose straps - they all seem to be 6-8 inches too long and flap. The waist belt would easily fit 50in!

I didnt fancy the 28 as it doesnt appear to have any sort of internal frame, the larger ones have sprung steel that helps with more reasonable loads.

I have the 48L. It has loads of bells and whistles. It's the first time I have bought a sack that comes with a set of instructions.
