I had kind of settled on a Vango Tornado 150 (2007 model, they don't make the 150 this year, only the larger 200). The wee Tornado 150 seems like a great all-rounder, for UK weather and ultimately for some trekking I want to do later this year, in warmer climates such as South America. At about 2.5kg, it's not the lightest tent of course, but it sounds very comfortable and I'm happy to carry an extra kilo for that extra comfort and also to make it suitable in the UK when I need it.
But you know what? The more I look, the harder the final decision becomes. The problem is that it's kind of hard to look at a tent on, say, Vango's website, and really work out what conditions it's suitable in. Vango's website doesn't even say what seasons it's suitable for. I find it hard as an amateur to know what's suitable for what climate. My budget is around £100-£200 which isn't much but hopefully I can get something decent.
My guess is that you guys will tell me that I'm asking for too much by asking for a tent suitable for UK and warmer countries but as I said, I'm willing to carry an extra kilo if it means I get that flexibility.
So really, any advice, hints, tips are welcome. Any other sites I could look at to see what other trekking enthusiasts have used on their adventures?
Thanks for any help, I will sincerely appreciate it and I promise to let you know what I get in the end and upload a review and photos.
